One of the funny things I’ve noticed is how strange it feels knowing that very kind people out there are taking a chance on reading my work and meeting Aeron. I know that there are some who are waiting for the paperback, (Which I will keep you posted on the progress)but it’s quite an odd (and good) feeling knowing that Aeron is having a tour of other people’s minds!
The best way that I can describe it is akin to nurturing a bird from its egg until that moment when you open your hands and let it fly free. You hope that it soars and is happy but you have no more control over it. I have had a celebratory slice of cake, so what happens now?
I went back to work. I’m currently working through editing Fractured which is out in November. Taking everything that I have learned from The Empath and implementing it to the best of my ability. Of course, I will be publicising Aeron and taking it to the York Festival of Writing, and if you are a writers’ or readers’ group who is interested in me coming to chat about my novel just drop me an email via my page here and I’ll get back to you.
In the meantime, I’m editing and will be working to start promoting Fractured in the autumn.
So, I thought it would be a good time to chat about writing two very different series and characters. You see where Aeron is your hero, she’s kind and cuddly and pretty much a big bear of a lady, Nita is not.
Nita was the character that first brought me to write, along with her boss the indomitable La Señora. They aren’t the kind of characters that you will be used to, Nita is unapologetically a bad girl. She’s not the kind of woman that you would necessarily invite to dinner at first but, the challenge in writing Fractured was to get the reader to love a woman who at first glance should be the antagonist not the protagonist. By the close of Fractured, if I have done my job well, then you should feel quite the connection to Nita. Writing characters so very different from each other is a switch in thought process, they approach their lives and most situations differently. I have noticed among the folks who have seen both books, (my betas) that they often have a favourite of the two, although thankfully they seem to love both. They are either Team Nita or Team Aeron.
So, when you get the chance to read both books, I will be asking that question, are you Team Aeron or Team Nita? (you can be in both too, I am.)
Over the next few months, a new tab will be added to the home page where Nita and her series will have a home and all the information on her, and promos, snippets, etc will be there. Right now, however, it’s Aeron’s time in the spotlight and she ain’t no dimwit. If you have read or are reading The Empath, I’d love for you to leave a comment and let me know. I promise that I will relay the messages on to Aeron! If you have questions about the book I’m always happy to talk about her but for now, here’s a little page that fell from Doctor Llys’ file…
