Update and Hello!

2017-05-14 18.12.45

Hey!

I hope that The Whistleblower episodes are keeping you entertained and excited about Noble Heart. If you’ve been reading the blog awhile then you probably know that I haven’t been on full cylinders: undergoing operations and the emotional highs and lows in recovery. There’s been amazing moments (pink feet and hands) and some really tough ones (blue feet and hands) and so I focused the energy… or found the energy… to keep writing and study throughout.

Some kind of stubbornness definitely took over and I’m not quite sure how I managed to write Noble Heart at times when seeing the screen or making sense were a huge challenge. It was important for me to make it shine with a message of hope, of light, of faith, the power of love and friendship. I packed it with moments that I can’t wait for you to read: moments which show each of our girls kicking butt; moments where you should be chewing your nails; moments packed with emotion, with determination, with that soul-soaring tingle when a hero gets back up.

It should have been tough to follow Hindsight and Noble Heart challenged me to hold my ground, to follow my heart, to believe in my writing ability. Sometimes that was hard when physically I was struggling and creatively, I wasn’t feeling confident but, while gathering hospital miles, I spotted this from Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, Paralympian. It would be nice if hospitals were filled with a lot more of those statements.

Hope is an incredible thing.

There’s still a long road for me but there’s been some shards of that precious  hope twinkling through this week which, we hope, will make sure my recovery is a full one. Ferb hasn’t been out of work and seems to have adapted to the new challenges I have. He’s growing into his frame too and looks more handsome everytime I look at him.

So, while out in the garden today, I was having a cuddle with Ferb. The sun was warm and the sky was that rich blue that melts worries away. It made me think about the sunshine and how, at least in Wales, we don’t always see it for the clouds but it’s there, the sky is that blue. Hope is a lot like that, isn’t it? It’s remembering that, even when it’s grey, cold and raining, that somewhere above there’s a gentle warm glow just waiting to break through.

If it’s cold or cloudy, I’ve learned a tip from Frei… stick on your aviators, your jacket and give it some Locks!

Big Smiles!
